The replica of London’s iconic Tower Bridge was comprised of over 5,805,846 individual LEGO bricks. Built by a team of master LEGO builders, the replica, complete with working drawbridge, was built over a period of 150 days.
The reveal moment saw the New Discovery manoeuvre across the giant structure with Ben Ainslie behind the wheel. It was followed by a life-size replica of the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing boat, piloted by Olympic legend and BAR Team Principal Sir Ben Ainslie, alongside his crewmates. In the same style as Tower Bridge, the replica boat was constructed entirely from LEGO, with 186,500 bricks being used in its intricate design.
The model of Tower Bridge was flanked by two LEGO ‘Discovery Zones’ – an Equestrian Zone, hosted by Zara Phillips, and an Adventure Zone, headed up by international explorer Bear Grylls.
The Equestrian Zone saw British rider Zara surrounded by a LEGO interpretation of the British countryside, whilst the Adventure Zone featured a rendition of the British mountain landscape alongside LEGO models of the Scouts, an organisation close to Bear’s heart and which in which he holds the position of Chief Scout.

Tasked with hiding all of the design details, the children, aged between four and nine, set to work on drawing their families on their favourite days out, and of course signing their name against their work.
After landing, Bear and his 6 fellow skydivers from the Royal Marines, ran to the camouflaged Discovery, with all 7 seats folded out and ready to accommodate them.
The Intelligent Seat Fold technology demonstrated during the stunt allows users to move all seven of the SUV’s full-size adult seats remotely. Options include moving them forward and backwards, as well as fold up and down the seat backs, all via a smartphone app. The technology debuts on the All-New Discovery, which has its World Premiere in Paris on 28th September.
