Our new engine has been designed and engineered to deliver effortless performance, greater efficiencies and unparalleled refinement. Typically 20kg lighter than previous powertrains, it is available in 150PS and 180PS, 2 or 4 Wheel Drive and a choice of 6‑speed Manual or 9‑speed Automatic Transmissions. Internal friction is a compelling 17% lower than the previous diesel engines and service intervals have been extended from 16,000 to 21,000 miles on 4WD models.
Constructed from aluminium and lightweight steel, the suspension struts advanced hydraulic rebound technology reduces noise entering the cabin after impact. The system also ensures undulating surfaces are almost smoothed out and there’s no kickback on your arms or the vehicle’s chassis.
Adaptive Dynamics provides the optimum balance of ride and control. It does so by monitoring the vehicle’s movements at least 1000 times a second and adjusting the damper settings between soft and firm as your inputs or the road dictate. This happens virtually instantaneously to minimise body roll, deliver greater control and ensure a composed, flat ride. It even senses off-road conditions and optimises damping accordingly.
TORQUE VECTORING BY BRAKING
This system enhances the vehicle’s agility and stability when cornering. It constantly monitors and balances the distribution of torque between all wheels to improve grip and steering whether on or off‑road. The system can also increase the rate of turn and reduce understeer by applying the brake on the inside rear wheel, forcing more torque to the outer wheel, thereby aiding stability.
When activated, this standard feature prioritises the most efficient vehicle settings, including Automatic Transmission, Active Driveline, heating and air conditioning, to help minimise fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The ECO data provides the driver with the relevant information via the Touchscreen so more economic driving habits can be adapted.
9-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The lightweight, compact 9‑speed Automatic Transmission provides optimum fuel economy and CO2 emissions, as well as greater control in low‑grip conditions. Or, when towing, through the specially designed ultra‑low first gear. The transmission is extremely robust and perfectly complements the vehicle’s all‑terrain capabilities while delivering exemplary levels of refinement and efficiency.
Terrain Response takes capability to new heights. It optimises the vehicle’s engine, transmission, differentials and chassis systems to maximise driveability, comfort and traction no matter what the terrain. Just select the mode that suits the conditions: General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts and Sand. The vehicle always delivers a confident, assured drive.
GRADIENT RELEASE CONTROL
Similar to Hill Start Assist, this system prevents the vehicle accelerating too quickly. If the vehicle stops and starts on an incline, the system holds the brake before gradually disengaging as you pull away.
ALL TERRAIN PROGRESS CONTROL
Functioning at very low speeds, between 1.8kph and 30kph, All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) helps the driver maintain a steady speed in challenging conditions so you can concentrate on steering and finding your way through obstacles. It also allows you to pull away smoothly and evenly, even on low‑friction surfaces such as ice, snow or wet grass.
Optional on TD4 180PS and Si4 engines, this system can prove invaluable both on and off‑road. In many on road situations, it can disconnect the drive to the rear wheels, thereby improving fuel economy. If the surface changes or you accelerate hard, it imperceptibly and seamlessly reconnects within 300 milliseconds. A dedicated display on the Touchscreen ensures you always feel in control.
HILL DESCENT CONTROL
Land Rover’s patented Hill Descent Control (HDC) is a standard feature on all 4WD vehicles. It assists the driver with controlled descents of difficult slopes by maintaining a constant speed and applying braking separately to each wheel. The system works automatically to slow the vehicle and maintain the speed relative to the selected gear range and accelerator pedal position.
Feel safer crossing a stream, a ford or negotiating floodwater. Wade Sensing measures the water depth using sensors on the underside of the door mirrors and provides real‑time information in relation to the vehicle. This data and the maximum wading capability are relayed via the Touchscreen, providing you with the correct knowledge to behave appropriately.
LANE KEEP ASSIST AND DRIVER CONDITION MONITOR
This technology senses when your vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of your lane and gently steers you back. Driver Condition Monitor detects if you’re starting to feel drowsy and gives you ample warning to take a break.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND QUEUE ASSIST
When you’re cruising on the motorway or travelling in slow-moving traffic, this system will help keep your vehicle a safe distance from the one in front should it slow or stop. When the vehicle speeds up again, so does your Discovery Sport.
AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING
If a potential collision is detected, this system displays a forward collision warning, giving you time to take action. If you don’t respond, the system will apply the brakes to help reduce the severity of any possible impact.
BLIND SPOT MONITOR WITH REVERSE TRAFFIC DETECTION
This technology alerts you to vehicles in, or quickly approaching, your blind spot. It does so through a small warning light in the corresponding door mirror. Reverse Traffic Detection warns of hazards approaching on either side of your vehicle via both audible and visual warnings. So you know what’s behind you even when the view is obstructed.
INTELLIGENT PARK ASSIST
Our Park Assist system makes parallel and perpendicular parking straightforward by steering your vehicle into a suitable space. Simply select the appropriate gear and control your speed with the brake and accelerator pedals. This system will also guide you out of a space, making manoeuvres easier. Graphics and notifications aid your progress.
SURROUND CAMERA SYSTEM
Providing a 360° view around the vehicle, this system’s cameras help with various manoeuvres; from parking by a kerb and getting in and out of a space, to towing. You can also zoom and pan to see objects that may be below your line of sight so you can drive accordingly; the relevant information appears on the Touchscreen.
COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE
HEATED AND COOLED FRONT SEATS
Summer or winter, heated and cooled front seats ensure everyone enjoys their chosen temperature. Conditioned air circulates via a fan through ducts in the seat cushion, warming or cooling the surface. Each seat can be individually adjusted.
This option presents key vehicle data such as road speed, gear position and navigation instructions on the windscreen, without the need for the driver to take their eyes off the road. A world first, this system features holographic techniques which result in superior colour saturation, brightness and contrast. The driver can turn the feature on and off as required.
This system features an air sensor that monitors humidity, smog levels and extremes in weather; vents positioned throughout the vehicle enable you to adapt the interior temperature accordingly. Wherever your passengers sit, they can always feel comfortable.
Streamline your life with the HomeLink® system. This universal transmitter can be programmed to operate three home or office wireless controlled systems such as garage doors, gates or lighting. Lost remotes are no longer an issue.
MERIDIANTM DIGITAL SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM
Land Rover has partnered with Meridian, a world leader in high-performance audio technologies and digital sound processing, to develop advanced sound systems for Discovery Sport. The optional 825W Meridian Digital Surround Sound System includes 16 speakers and a dual channel subwoofer, delivering crystal clear highs and rich, deep bass notes throughout the cabin. You hear your music just how you want to.
INCONTROL TOUCH AND TOUCH PRO
InControl is our suite of advanced technologies that maintains your digital connections and links you seamlessly and securely to your vehicle when you’re elsewhere. These systems can be enhanced by their respective connectivity packages: InControl Connect and Connect Pro.
INCONTROL CONNECT AND CONNECT PRO
These additional technology bundles take your vehicle’s connectivity and convenience even further. InControl Apps enables you to enhance aspects of your in-car experience via compatible smartphone apps and the 10” Touchscreen. Added to which, Remote Premium allows you to monitor and interact with your vehicle. With the Wi‑Fi Hotspot and InControl Pro Services functions keeping you connected to the outside world, whether it is business or pleasure, your life is made easier.
Your smartphone acts as a portal to connect with your Land Rover using InControl Protect. You can check your fuel levels remotely, find your vehicle in a busy car park, record your journeys or even check you haven’t left a window open. Optimised Land Rover Assistance is also included which, in the unlikely event of a breakdown, can transmit diagnostic and location information to your recovery company. In serious incidents, SOS Emergency Call notifies the emergency services of your location.
If someone breaks into your vehicle or tries to move it illegally, InControl Secure activates when InControl Protect is triggered. You are alerted and the vehicle is tracked until its location is pinpointed for recovery by the relevant authorities. Even if it is stolen with your keys, you can notify the tracking call centre using the InControl Remote App.
REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT
Passengers in the rear of the vehicle can enjoy individual entertainment with two 8” screens built into the front headrests. With a pair of WhiteFire® digital headphones each, one USB port in the second row and a dedicated remote control, they can choose film, music, games or even television.
